About my studio

I teach the Suzuki Method in Violin as well as sight reading and note recognition. I love Dr. Suzuki's Method because it teaches young children to have a love for music and to identify it. I love that it is a method that encourages parents to be an important part of their child's musical development even if they themselves are not musical. The Suzuki Triangle involves the child, the parent and the teacher all equally which is vital to the success of the violinist. If the parent is not actively participating in their child's musical life and encouraging them to practice 'only on the days they eat', the child has a difficult time.

I have started each of my children at age 4 with the Suzuki Method and I have seen some amazing things come from it. By encouraging and supportive, what once started with a parent making the child practice an instrument has now blossomed into the child loving the music they are playing. My oldest, Riley is 13 years old and is just starting Suzuki Book 9, Sunny is 11 and is in Book 5, Elle is 8 and is in Book 3 and Emery is 6 and in Book 1. Each one of the kids are in a different stage of their musical adventure and it is my job to be their supporter and encourager.

Once a student has learned and memorized a piece, that does not mean that it is done and forgotten about. That is another thing I love about the Suzuki Method. You review the previously memorized pieces daily so you can keep them up in your repertoire. Each song builds on each other and the skills they learned in previous songs will help them for new pieces!

On top of the Suzuki Violin books, I also teach my students to learn how to read music, we learn scales, sight reading, vibrato, shifting, fiddle music, and holiday music. I have a recital in the Spring time where the students can showcase their hard worked memorized piece.

I am a firm believer of a positive environment and try my best to make my studio a place of fun, happiness and positivity. I never want learning the violin to be a negative experience. I am also a firm believer of hard work, dedication and daily practice. Of course there will be times where you are sick, or on vacation where you just can't practice. That happens to us all of the time. But for the most part, we make it a part of our daily routine so that the practicing happens daily. It is the ONLY way to get better at anything, especially the violin.

Please call, text or email me if you have any questions or want to get started with lessons! I am excited to start building my studio in Waunakee, Wisconsin! I have been teaching for 20 years and just LOVE teaching the violin!
